EN 1090-2 - Technical rules for the execution of steel structures and aluminium structures
The European standard includes the guidelines for the execution of steel construction on supporting structures and components
The requirements for the products are based on the execution class (EXC). There are four classes.
EXC 1 includes supporting structures made of steel up to strength S275, which are predominantly subjected to static loads.
They are used in detached houses on balconies and as banisters. The impact load must not exceed 0.5 kN/m.
Steel up to class S700 is classified in EXC 2 if it does not belong in any other execution class.
This includes both predominantly static and non-predominantly static structures. They include stairs and railings in public buildings and load-bearing elements for commercial buildings.
EXC 3 regulates the requirements for bridges for road traffic and crane runways. Flying structures such as Ferris wheels, roller coasters, grandstands also fall into this class.
Structures, the failure of which would have a significant impact on people or the environment, require a fatigue analysis. They are classified in execution class EXC 4.
A static calculation is required for the work, which must be carried out before the material is ordered.
