REACH Training for PU Foam / diisocyanates
By August 24, 2023, all businesses in the crafts and industry sectors must train their employees who work with diisocyanates (e.g., PU foams or isocyanate-containing paints and coatings containing more than 0.1 wt.% of isocyanate content). This requirement is mandated by the European chemical regulation REACH.
We offer REACH training in our facilities in Wallenhorst near Osnabrück, as well as on-site training at your company. Our certified experts provide personalized training, and we provide documentation of the training for regulatory compliance. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training.
What are diisocyanates?
Diisocyanates are molecules that contain two isocyanate groups in their structure. They are used in the production of polyurethanes and are important raw materials for the manufacturing of polyurethane foams, adhesives, sealants, and coatings. Some examples of diisocyanates include toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI).

Where are diisocyanates found?
- Foams: Diisocyanates are used in the production of polyurethane foams for mattresses, upholstered furniture, car seats, and insulation materials.
- Adhesives and Coatings: Diisocyanates serve as adhesion promoters in adhesives and coatings for the automotive and construction industries.
- Sealants: Diisocyanates are used in sealants for windows, doors, and joints.
- Paints: Diisocyanates are used in solvent-based and water-based paints for automobiles, furniture, and other objects.
