DIN 6618-1
DIN 6618-1
Single- and double-walled upright tanks according to DIN 6618 are used for pressureless storage of water-polluting liquids. Due to increased load assumptions caused by wind and earthquakes, new standards (DIN 1055-4 and DIN 4149) were published in 2005. The standard would then have to be adapted because it was not possible to prove the stability and strength of the tanks in earthquakes, and earthquakes were not taken into account in DIN 6618. For the sake of simplicity, a list of building rules from 2009 is considered a binding supplement to the standard. It includes:
Containers according to DIN 6618
- must not be installed in areas threatened by earthquakes or flooding;
- may only be installed in buildings.
Alternatively, the dimensions of those tanks can also be calculated according to Annex 15.5 contained in the Building Rules List 2009-2. In this case, a proof of stability must be provided for the container placed outdoors. According to these calculations, the tank bottoms and the cylinder shell must have the same wall thicknesses and the outer diameter of the tanks must not exceed D = 2.9 m.
